Andreas Paolo Perger is the son of an Austrian-Italian father and a German-Polish mother. His was a family of musicians and artists, with a history of migrating across Europe. He wears the eight-rayed star from the Val di Non. His Munich grandfather was a poet of the Student Resistance against National Socialism. After anti-authoritarian pedagogics, piano lessons, and free painting, Andreas took guitar lessons from age seven. After the early loss of his parents, he dedicated himself to studies of the guitar, improvisation, and composition in the USA, Germany, Italy, and Austria. After a residency in New York, he was named "Newcomer of the Year" by the Süddeutsche Zeitung in 1997, coinciding with the release of an 11-CD series through Fenn Music in Hamburg. The press celebrated his multi-perspective sound language. Concert tours and project funding followed. He also did studio work for ARD, ORF, and EMI Records, as well as soundtracks for art videos.In collaboration with Stevens Custom Guitars and Huber Amps, he developed the 5.1 Surround Guitar, which was introduced at the 1999 Music Fair in Frankfurt. The first concert with the 5.1 Surround Guitar took place in the Tube in Munich (and on BR2 Radio) in 2002. Compositions with new media and for the Internet Series followed. 2007 saw the world premiere of "o record - Concert for 5.1 Surround Guitar" as part of the ORF Long Night of Museums TONSPUR_live at the Museumsquartier (MQ)/ Vienna. This was followed by performances in Prague, Munich, and Hamburg. Andreas developed the phonomontage "Österreich oond dee Velt in 1938", a memorial in sound to cultural integrity and humanity (Lindo Records, Vienna). Currently preparing new playing modules, Andreas Paolo Perger lives and works between Munich, Vienna, Berlin, and Bolzano.
